Marriage and Family Therapist Trainee
Hi, my name is Maya Washington and I am a Marriage and Family Therapist Trainee with Hope for Healthy Families. I received a Bachelor of Art degree in Sociology along with a minor in Human Development from California State University East Bay. I am currently studying for my Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Saint Mary’s College of California. My passion for becoming a counselor stems from the belief that relationships play an important role in an individuals’ life, as well as, the relationship that we hold with ourselves. I have previous experience working with foster youth, as well as children in the early childhood years. I look forward to continuing to work with these populations, along with a new focus on families, couples, and individuals of all backgrounds, cultures, and ages. I believe that no single approach fits every client; therefore, I use a variety of therapeutic interventions to meet the needs of each client in order to help guide individuals towards creating positive mental health. I hope to provide support and empathy for those who may be struggling with difficult life circumstances so that we may work together while reaching individual and important goals.
