Hello! My name is Tera Watts and I am a Marriage and Family Therapist trainee currently pursuing my master’s with Touro University Worldwide. Prior to returning to grad school I studied Health, Fitness, and Nutrition and ultimately decided I wanted my experience in helping improve physical health to expand towards helping improve mental health as well, leading me back to grad school.
I believe mental health is a holistic process that includes self-care, self-compassion, and self-awareness. My goal is to help you identify where you want to be and what strengths/skills we can build on to get you there. We can start by identifying small changes that can build momentum and confidence towards larger ones. If something isn’t working out we can collaborate on what solutions to try instead. We can also address learned patterns of coping or reacting that may be holding you back from meeting your needs or relating/communicating better with others. For couples and families this can include reframing and aligning perspectives to improve understanding and build empathy for each other.
Outside of sessions I maintain my own mental health through games (video games, board games, tabletop games), comics/movies, and crafts including crochet. I also enjoy relieving stress through kickboxing classes and long walks with my dog.
