    Chemical Dependency Counselor Intern

I currently hold Associate’s degrees in Human Services as well as Social and Behavioral Health. After this semester, I will have completed transfer degrees in Psychology and Sociology as well as an Associate’s degree in Chemical Dependency Counseling. I plan to transfer to Sacramento State next semester to pursue my Bachelor’s in Psychology and Sociology. Subsequently, I plan to get my Master’s in Psychology. I’m a strong believer that an individual’s brain and body needs a sense of safety and security – as well as community support – in order to rewire behaviors and brain functions chiefly through making new positive memories to replace negative past memories. My strengths include empathy, sympathy, honesty, and a generalized sense of safety and serenity with my clients. I don’t believe in a one size fits all approach to my clients and adjust my approaches as necessary to my client’s respective needs. I have experience working with individuals in rehabilitation settings as well as experience with grief/loss in hospice settings from previous work as a certified nurse aide. I enjoy working with diverse populations and look forward to helping individuals out of the struggles that life presents them.
